Fishing at Cinco Ríos

Due to geographical and meteorological conditions of our region, the Salmonid species finds a perfect environment for reproduction and survival, which is why the Patagonia is a well known destination for amateur sport fishing. Cinco Rios Lodge is located in Coyhaique, the capital city of sport fishing in the Aysén region, and for many, a fishing world paradise. Every year fishermen from different latitudes discover in the numerous waters of our rivers and lakes, the unique experience of a fly fishing trip in the Patagonia.

Cinco Rios has the facilities, equipment, and high-level professional guides to ensure the satisfaction of all our fishermen friends. The atmosphere generated after a day of fishing is indescribable; sharing experiences, anecdotes, techniques, or showing amazing photographs, only increases the love and passion for this healthy sport, and of course the thrill of living a new day, the next day of fishing in the Chilean Patagonia!

Simpson River
It is probably the most famous river in the Aysén region; the Simpson River tends to fish like classic Montana freestone and has significant caddis and mayfly opportunities. Browns and rainbows from 14-22 inches are your usual catch. However, trout up to 30 inches have been caught on a fly. King Salmon run this river from early January through mid March. We've taken Kings from the Simpson that push 45+ pounds. Our Lodge is located right on the Simpson River banks, then on top of enjoying the most gorgeous views of the Simpson River with the Andes peaks as a background, you will be able to finish a great drifting and arriving right in front of the lodge, where the Pisco sour will be waiting for you.
Paloma River
The Paloma River is a river that begins at the Desierto lake and runs northwest until it meets the Desague River about 15 miles away. A glacial freestone flows iridescent blue water and provides fantastic dry fly and streamer action. Predominantly a brown trout fishery, the introduction of rainbows in the late nineties has proven to be a success. Fish from 14-23 inches are taken from the crystal, clear Paloma. We generally drift at the Paloma River.
Azul River
Located between Lago Azul and Lago Desierto, the Rio Azul is accessible by boat as it gets you into a remote area. Flowing beneath the shadows of Cerro Castillo, it is probably one of the world's most beautiful fishing locations. Browns from 17-21 inches are quite common with even larger fish that are taken. Jet boats take you to and from the Rio Azul, however, we prefer to wade once we arrive.
Desagüe River
The Rio Desague drains Lago Elizalde and runs for about five miles until it enters Lago Caro. Within this short stretch of river are browns and rainbows 17-23 inches with many larger trophies lurking in its depths. Jet boats will run into this remote river for some spectacular scenery and dry fly fishing.
Emperador Guillermo River
It is one of the jewels of the area. There are many pools and riffles loaded with hungry trout, averaging 12 to 16 inches, sometimes over a 100 fish a day.
Other Rivers
Mañihueles, Ñirehuao, Mogote, Río Blanco, Río Aysén, Río Coyhaique, Lago Elizalde, Lago Azul among many others.
Cinco Rios Chile offers a great natural variety of species for the enjoyment of our visitors who love fishing.
Rainbow Trout
holaBelonging to cold and crystalline water, Rainbow Trout were introduced into the Patagonia in the 19th century. Great fighters as they bite the bait, Rainbow Trout are highly prized by sport fishing experts. His colorful scales give shape to a true rainbow when you collect the line after his capture ...Unforgettable!!
Brown Trout
holaAbundant in our waters and for many, the favorite of sport fishing. Its astute, elusive, unpredictable and aggressive addition to its habitat in remote areas makes the Brown Trout's capture a unique event. You can catch most at about 14 to 23 inches, but some have caught up to 33 inches .... Trophies!
Chinook Salmon
holaIt may take 3 to 5 years in the ocean before they reach our rivers to breed and reproduce in the same freshwater that they were born in. We found species at about 130 cms (51 inches). Incredible!
Coho Salmon
holaComing from the Pacific Ocean, large quantities are found in our rivers. Preparing for reproduction, the males have jaws, teeth and a hooked nose that surprises fishermen. There have been species found weighing about 15 kilos (33 lbs) Amazing!!
Cinco Rios Chile also offers professional and specialized equipment for sports fishing.
